Difference of Gameplay Terms in Content Creation
Story
Few days ago I trying to find out which term that fits my youtube video content when I stream my gameplay of a RPG-story-based single player game. So I found these terms and I learn more clearly about the differences of these terms: Gameplay, Let’s Play, Walkthrough, Playthrough, Longplay.
The Takeaway
Gameplay: General term of any video showcasing a game itself. With or without commentary. Mild to highly edited.
Let’s Play: Highly commentary. Medium to highly edited. Familiarity with the game is irrelevant.
Walkthrough: Focused on education and guidance, showing how to beat specific levels, solves puzzle, get items, find secrets, or something like that. Often 100% completion-oriented. May or may not include commentary. Medium to highly edited.
Playthrough: Often without commentary. Full gameplay from the start to the end, the objective is to complete it from start to end. Slightly edited. You familiar with the game.
Longplay: Unedited. May or may not with commentary, oftenly without commentary. The viewer get all the moments the creator where it figures out puzzles or trying to beat an enemy repeatedly.
